Get Far

By Shinning Star

The way you look at me
The way you touch me
The fire in your eyes
(I swear) makes me shivers inside
There’s nothing I can do about it
‘Cause nothing seems so truth
When I’m beside you
am I dreaming
of Venus just hold my hand
Naked, perfect, so beautiful
You turn me up and down
I was spinning round and round
You never get enough, baby you don’t
You’re a shining star

The way you look at me
The way you touch me
The fire in your eyes
(I swear)Makes me shivers inside
There’s nothing I can do about it
You’re my soulmate, my summer and my faith
You fill me up with love
Your kisses are better than wine
There’s nothing I want more than you, girl

-Well, I choose this song because it remembers me the best relationship I had whith a girl. We met in Bahia and fell in love in a trip into the beaches of Itaparica.

I´m a student of Graçinha, and I really love my school. I´m a lover of brasilian movies, but my favorites movies are from Almodover, just like: “Carne tremula”, “Tudo sobre minha mãe”, “Fale com ela”, “Kika”, or even “Volver”. I´m a lover of brasilian music too, and my favourites singers are Chico Buarque, Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethania.

Song Project – Priscila

My song doesn´t really have a story behind it, but it´s just a song that reminds me of the good times I have had with really special friends.

I used to study in a school that I liked very much and my best friends used to study there too. We used to have a lot of fun together, and we were always laughing.

Here are the lyrics.

Hands Clean

If it weren’t for your maturity

none of this would have happened

If you weren’t so wise beyond your years

I would’ve been able to control myself

If it weren’t for my attention

you wouldn’t have been successful and

If it weren’t for me

you would never have amounted to very much

Chorus

Ooh this could be messy

But you don’t seem to mind

Ooh don’t go telling everybody

And overlook this supposed crime

We’ll fast forward to a few years later

And no one knows except the both of us

And I have honored your request for silence

And you’ve washed your hands clean of this

You’re essentially an employee

and I like you having to depend on me

You’re my kind of protege

and one day you’ll say you learned it all from me

I know you depend on me

like a young thing would to a guardian

I know you sexualize me

like a young thing would and I think I like it

Chorus

What part of our history’s reinvented and under rug swept?

What part of your memory is selective and tends to forget?

What with this distance it seems so obvious?

Just make sure you don’t tell on me

especially to members of your family

We best keep this to ourselves

and not tell any members of our inner posse

I wish I could tell the world

cuz you’re such a pretty thing when you’re done up properly

I might want to marry you one day

if you watch that weight and keep your firm body

Song Project – Rafael

I was born in a small city next to Campos do Jordão called Renopolis. I lived there until I was four years old. Then, I moved to the big city. Those days of my life where the best ever. When I lived in Renopolis, I used to live on a big farm, where I was always playing around with my friends who lived in the farms next to mine. When I came to the big city, I had lots of problems, like having to learn how to speak better Portuguese because, on the farm, I was used to speaking Japanese with everybody and adapting to a new environment was very difficult for me. Then, because I was not able to learn Portuguese as fast, I started to become frustrated and I started doing bad things. But then I remebered how was my life when I lived in the farm and I realized that doing bad things woudn’t solve my problems. I remebered the happiness felling which I used to feel, and this was the motivation for me to go extra mile to learn portuguese. And the song which I chose was Ghetto Gospel because in this song Tupac talks about remebering his past and learning with his problems like I did.

Ghetto Gospel

By Tupac Shakur

 Uhh,
Hit them with a lil’ ghetto gospel

[Chorus - Elton John
Those who wish to follow me (My ghetto gospel)
I welcome with my hands
And the red sun sinks at last into the hills of gold
And peace to this young warrior without the sound of guns

[2Pac]
If I could recelect before my hood dayz
I’d sit and reminisce, nigga and bliss on that good dayz
i stop and stare at the younger, my heart goes to’em
They tested, it was stressed that fate under
In our days, things changed
Everyone’s ashamed to the youth cuz the truth looks strange
And for me it’s the worst, we left of a world that’s cursed, and it hurts
cause any day they’ll push the button
and yall condemned like Malcolm x and Bobby Hunton, died for nothin
Don’t them let me get teary, the world looks dreary
but when you wipe your eyes, see it clearly
there’s no need for you to fear me
if you take the time to hear me, maybe you can learn to cheer me
it aint about black or white, cuz we’re human
I hope you see the light before its ruined
my ghetto gospel

[Chorus - Elton John]

[2Pac]
Tell me do you see that old lady aint it sad
Living out a bag, plus she’s glad for the little things she has
And over there there’s a lady, crack got her crazy
Guess she’s given birth to a baby
I don’t trip and let it fade me, from outta the frying pan
We’re jumping to another form of slavery
Even now I keep discouraged
Wonder if they take it all back while I still keep the courage
I refuse to be a role model
I set goals, take control, drink out my own bottle
I make mistakes, I learn from everyone
And when its said and done
I bet this Brotha be a better one
If I’m upset, you don’t stress
Never forget, that God hasn’t finished with me yet
I feel his hand on my brain
When I write rhymes, I go blind, and let the lord do his thang
But am I less holy
Cuz I choose to puff a blunt and drink a beer with my homies
Before we find world peace
We gotta find peace in that war on the streets
My ghetto gospel

[Chorus - Elton John]

[2Pac]
Lord can you hear me speak!!
To pay the price of being hell bound…

Song Project – Rebeca

Why I chose this song

Well, this  song is about to

remind me my two best friends,

Ilana and Stephanie.

We are a inseparable triad, however,

Stephanie is in a exchange program,

in Victoria BC, Vancouver, Canada,

and we both – me and Ilana- are missing her here.

This song shows, in my point of view,

the meaning of a truly friendship,

which whenever you call, your friend

will come to stand you a hand and help

you with your problems.

You’ve Got A Friend

James Taylor - You've Got A Friend james taylor
When you're down and troubled
And you need a helping hand
And nothing, whoa nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest nights.
Chorus
You just call out my name,
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running, oh yeah baby
To see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall,
All you got to do is call
And I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You've got a friend. If the sky above you
Should turn dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together and call my name out loud
And soon I will be knocking upon your door.
Chorus
You just call out my name
And you know where ever I am
I'll come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you got to do is call
And I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Hey, ain't it good to know that you've got a friend?
People can be so cold.
They'll hurt you and desert you.
Well they'll take your soul if you let them.
Oh yeah, but don't you let them.
Chorus
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again.
Oh babe, don't you know that,
Winter, spring, summer, or fall,
Hey now, all you've got to do is call.
Lord, I'll be there, yes I will.
You've got a friend.
You've got a friend.
Ain't it good to know you've got a friend.
Ain't it good to know you've got a friend.
